Numana launches its first quantum communication network by optical fiber in Sherbrooke, in partnership with the Government of Quebec and Bell Canada, and in collaboration with the innovation zone of Quantum Sherbrooke

This testbed, using cutting edge technologies, allows to interconnect quantum devices (ex. computers, simulators, captors) by telecom links. This will make its users able to distribute quantum information and resources in an independent industrial environment outside of commercial networks. Other testbeds will soon be opened in Montreal and Quebec city, with the goal of being linked into a provincial network, and eventually national.

This testbed stands out by its following characteristics :

  • Open : available to local or foreign corporations and research institutions
  • Collaborative : Focus on interdisciplinary approach and cross-functional collaboration
  • Adaptable : Flexibility in experimentation, reconfigurable to users’ needs
  • Scalable : a combination of transmission systems, of cybersecurity and of quantum devices in the process of development
