The technological and social
innovation ecosystem in Quebec

Numana’s role as a macro-accelerator would not be possible without the ecosystem of technological and social innovation that surrounds us. By acting as a link between the various stakeholders in this ecosystem and the industries that take part in our projects, Numana largely supports the development and adoption of cutting-edge technologies and disruptive models.

Who makes up
the innovation
ecosystem?

All the players in the technological and social innovation ecosystem collaborate on our projects, contributing their expertise and innovation networks to our think tanks and laboratories.

  • Governments & public agencies

The various levels of government are our main partners, and we work closely with them to ensure the financing and development of projects that accelerate the adoption and development of emerging technologies. In particular, they support us in ensuring the neutral and open nature of impactful projects for local businesses.

  • Technology suppliers

Suppliers of technological products and services of all sizes actively participate in our activities, either to promote their work on our projects, or to learn how to master these technologies that are on the verge of entering the market and develop appropriate solutions to the problems identified by our think tanks.

  • Research centers & universities

Research centers, universities and CEGEPs are often the primary holders of the skills and expertise deployed in our projects. They are also the firsts to listen to the training needs of technological and social innovation ecosystems.

  • Incubators & accelerators

The organizations that support startups and innovative companies as they grow, offering resources, mentoring and access to networks.

  • Industry associations & clusters

Industry associations and not-for-profit organizations are our main links with the companies in an industry and the end-users. They enable us to better understand the needs of their communities, and to involve their innovation networks in our initiatives.

  • Business & startups

Businesses (large corporations, SMEs and startups) are our end partners, the main drivers behind the adoption of social and technological innovation. They anchor themselves in our activities in order to develop products and services in our neutral and open environments.

  • Investors & venture capital funds

Our financial partners who support the development of emerging technologies and the expansion of innovative companies by providing strategic financing.

How Numana connects
and supports the ecosystem

The Numana process

The Numana process is first and foremost a unifying, cross-sector approach. All our activities are designed to enable connections and collaborations. Whether in our think tanks, which bring together industry experts, or in our living laboratoriess, we support digital transformation and innovation by facilitating partnerships and technology adoption. This can be as simple as enabling stakeholders within one of our ecosystems to present their projects to each other formally, or as complex as helping to set up more complex projects through our real-life experimentation environment or Symbiotiq, our online marketplace.

The players in our ecosystems can also meet on a wider scale during events we organize throughout the year, enabling them to discover our activities and technological applications beyond their usual sphere of activity.

This is at the heart of our process: to encourage our partners to be curious, to look to the future and anticipate unexpected developments in their sector.

We support them in these transitions through monitoring reports on technology, and conferences and webinars that enable them to better understand subjects that leave others with dire headaches.

In our view, the best way to support digital transformation is to enable the various players to realize that this transformation is continuous work through the innovation chain. And to make this kind of process sustainable, it’s essential to work in synergy with the company’s ecosystem.

The Numana process aims to harness the expertise of watch persons in the field, who foster resilience by alerting about future innovations through our strategic intelligence and think tanks. Our projects support organizations in our ecosystem in their digital transformation, enabling them to experiment with cutting-edge technologies and models.

To enable our watch people to avoid blind spots, we collaborate extensively with players in the ecosystems in which we are already involved, with those who could, in a few years’ time, benefit from our projects, and by remaining attentive to those who, for the moment, have no direct link.
