Montréal, June 7th 2026 — PINQ², a platform for digital and quantum innovation, and Numana today announce the signing of a strategic partnership aimed at combining their complementary expertise in quantum computing and secure quantum communication. As part of this alliance, PINQ² is integrating the Kirq ecosystem, Numana’s quantum communication testbed, as a collaborative partner.
This collaboration marks a significant milestone for the Québec and Canadian quantum ecosystem, laying the groundwork for an end-to-end infrastructure that combines quantum computing power with the security of quantum communications.
A strategic convergence for the quantum ecosystem
Kirq is an innovative platform dedicated to validating quantum technologies under real-world conditions. Designed as an independent and collaborative testbed, Kirq enables companies to test, validate, and accelerate the development of advanced technologies in a controlled and secure environment. Fort is part, PINQ² operates an advanced hybrid platform combining classical and quantum computing resources, serving research and innovation.
This partnership opens the door to an unprecedented collaboration: exploring projects that combine PINQ²’s quantum computing capabilities with Kirq’s quantum communication networks, aiming for concrete applications with significant impact for Québec businesses and researchers.
“This partnership with Numana represents a major step forward in our vision of an integrated quantum ecosystem. By combining our hybrid quantum and classical computing platform with Kirq’s quantum communication infrastructure, we are creating conditions for end-to-end applications that were not previously possible. This is exactly the kind of collaboration that Québec and Canada need to establish themselves as global leaders in quantum technology.” — Marie-Claude Messier, Chief Executive Officer, PINQ²
Concrete collaborative activities and an ambitious goal
Under this partnership, the two organizations commit to exploring and developing projects combining quantum computing, quantum communication networks, and classical infrastructure. They will particularly collaborate on identifying joint use cases and proof-of-concept opportunities.
This agreement also aims to accelerate the Québec quantum innovation ecosystem through knowledge sharing and co-development initiatives. The two organizations will furthermore evaluate connecting their infrastructures, with the goal of creating an end-to-end testbed and a joint go-to-market approach.
“Connecting the various technologies that comprise the quantum field will lead to major advances in the development of new innovations. The resulting ecosystem will help unlock the potential of Québec’s SMEs and startups by de-risking and facilitating access to these cutting-edge technologies. Moreover, this presents a unique opportunity for Québec to assert its leadership in the development of the quantum economy. That is why this partnership with PINQ² is so important to us.”
— Bernard Duval, President and Chief Executive Officer, Numana
About PINQ²
PINQ² is a non-profit organization founded by Université de Sherbrooke and the Québec Ministry of Economy, Innovation and Energy (MEIE). The organization operates Canada’s first Advanced Hybrid Platform (AHP), integrating classical, quantum, and hybrid computing. PINQ²’s mission is to democratize access to cutting-edge infrastructure, reduce risks in innovation, and bridge the gap between the potential of advanced computing and its practical adoption. The organization supports businesses — including SMEs and startups — as well as universities in Québec and across Canada, acting as a true innovation accelerator in priority sectors such as energy, environment, finance, aerospace, and defence. About Numana
Founded in 2007, Numana is a not-for-profit organization that acts as a technology macro-accelerator. By mobilizing the private, public, academic and community sectors, Numana develops and propels high-impact projects so that tomorrow’s technologies can emerge, be tested and adopted, and benefit society as a whole.
Numana notably manage Kirq, its flagship quantum communications project. This open, scalable, and collaborative testbed — deployed as a network of interconnected nodes in Sherbrooke, Québec City, and Montréal — is accessible to companies, universities, and research centres in Canada and internationally. It enables the integration and testing of new quantum technologies in key sectors such as telecommunications, finance, healthcare, critical infrastructure, as well as defense and national security, with the next step focused on developing a satellite connection.
Through Kirq, Numana contributes to accelerating the development of the quantum sector and positioning Québec and Canada as leaders in quantum communications.
