Projet Numana

Think Tank for a healthier Quebec population

In 2023, the Association pour la santé publique du Québec (ASPQ) came to Numana to create 2 idea labs to study the components that would enable innovation in disease reduction through prevention. One in entrepreneurship and one in artificial intelligence.

Why did Numana choose this project?

For several years now, Numana has been involved in projects concerning technological innovation in the healthcare sector. In particular, we specialize in asking how technologies can transform our healthcare model.

We were approached by the Association pour la Santé Publique du Québec (Quebec Public Health Association) to lead a series of think tanks on how technologies could support the development of a prevention-focused healthcare model.

Think tank goals

  • Start a social movement and a dialogue with the responsible bodies

Adopting a disease prevention model in Québec would have major positive impacts, not only by reducing healthcare costs and improving quality of life, but also by strengthening the economy and fostering a more resilient and health-conscious society.

  • Devising a strategy for the development of a disease reduction through prevention industry

Many AI entrepreneurs and professionals are ready to join this urgent and necessary movement. However, what remains to be done now is to provide them with the optimal conditions to support both the healthcare community and the public in this major challenge.

We set up a committee whose first task was to identify the needs and challenges of ecosystems dedicated to entrepreneurship and artificial intelligence (AI).

However, best practices show that collaborations between entrepreneurs and scientists are winning in the vast majority of cases.

Among the most important challenges is the fact that Quebec entrepreneurs are finding it extremely difficult to get their innovations known and adopted by their own healthcare system.

The study we produced shows that the benefits of investing in preventive health care are felt throughout Quebec society:

AI would help achieve ambitious disease reduction targets
AI would make it possible to implement effective prevention strategies at lower cost

However, a prevention strategy centered on AI must be inclusive, universal and multidisciplinary.
